Once again, after reading the nice article " You never forget your first book " on Ferruccio Gianola's blog, I take up his idea to talk about my first book . And, nice coincidence, it is exactly the same one he talked about: The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi, illustrated by Walter Cremonini. From his description I understood that it was the same book - and probably also received in the same period: large format, hard cover and blue with gold lettering. There was also a figure of Pinocchio, taken from the drawings and rendered in one color, gold.
Mine is still jealously preserved, even if it needs a little restoration. Cremonini's illustrations were able to perfectly convey, in my opinion, the drama and "dark" atmosphere of this fairy tale. Pinocchio has always had a particular charm for me. I consider it the best Italian fairy tale, because it is suitable both for a young audience, children and teenagers, and for Special Data adults, since it is in fact a harsh criticism of the society and customs of the time. This volume therefore represents the first book in my library , but it is not the only Pinocchio I own. I began to create a small collection of "Pinocchio", now owning 10 of them, including the three illustrated by Jacovitti and one in English, illustrated by Tim Hildebrandt (one of the Hildebrandt twins).
To these I can add a science fiction comic transposition written by Max Bunker and drawn by Giampaolo Chies, Pinocchio super robot . Furthermore, a publishing house should be able to monitor everything that is rumored around its publications. A useful tool in this sense is the free Google alert service : just enter a keyword, for example the title of the book, the name of the author or the publishing house, and you will periodically receive an email with links to the pages where we talk about those topics. A link should be considered as an element of page optimization and its contextualization . It is a link and must be taken as such in every sense: the linking page must be joined to the linked page not only by a hyperlink (link), but also and above all semantically . Links must always be contextual , because only in this way can they give value to the resource and the page that offers it.
